Mitosis Rate

A study of root sheath keratinocytes after a 14-day culture of hair follicles indicated enhanced cell reproduction, by virtue of stimulating the production of Ki-67 (a protein that is expressed in the nucleus of regenerating cells).

Gene Expression

Procapil® activates numerous genes involved in tissue repair mechanisms.

Hair Anchoring

Hair follicles incubated for 14 days with biotinyl-GHK (2ppm): Morphological observation of dermis/root sheath junction revealed that the persisting dermis/root sheath junction was thickened and recovered its normal sinusodial shape. Increased presence of Laminin-5 (tripled) and Collagen IV (quadrupled) revealed by immunoflourescence.

Stimulation of Hair Growth
Hair follicles incubated for 14 days with biotynil-GHK revealed a 121% increase in growth stimulation.

Clinical Study

Of 35 volunteers with alopecia who applied for the study, 18 were given a hair lotion with 3% Procapil®, to 17 given a placebo. After the course of 4 months, the anagen/telogen ratio was observed and calculated via collected hair samples from both groups. 67% of the Procapil®-using volunteers had their anagen hair number increased by up to 46%.

Hair Follicle Morphological Study

After treatment, hair bulb cells were found to be highly structured and differenciated. The root sheaths were thicker, ensuring optimum anchoring.

FIGURE 1: Here you can clearly see the increased anchoring power provided by Procapil®. The cells of the Dermis/Root Sheath Junction (which includes Laminin-5 and Collagen IV) are anchored more firmly into the Root Sheath, allowing for increased cell communication and nutrient supply.

FIGURE 2: These diagrams illustrate the result of improved circulation, cellular communication, and epithelial strengthening due to 4 months of Procapil® incubation. The health and anchoring power of this follicle is visibly increased.
